When selecting a bath, it is important to consider style and size alongside functionality. An often overlooked but crucial aspect of the modern bath, is the overflow.
Overflow systems prevent water from spilling over the rim of a bath and help ensure a safe and clean bathing experience for all. Read on to gain insight into the types of overflows available in Seima baths and make an informed product choice today.
Overflow Features & Benefits
Overflows play a crucial role in bathroom plumbing, acting as a secondary drainage point. Bath overflows exist primarily for safety and convenience – preventing water damage, giving an added peace of mind and supporting proper drainage.
An overflow works through a simple yet effective mechanism. When the water level in a bath reaches the height of its overflow opening, the excess water flows into the overflow channel. This channel is connected to the main drainage system, allowing the water to be safely diverted away. The overflow also acts as an air vent for the central drain, helping to prevent a vacuum from forming that could disrupt the water flow.
Some baths do not include an overflow and in this instance the bathroom’s main drain becomes essential. Regular maintenance is crucial to ensure the central drainage system is clear of any obstructions. Differing overflow regulations also exist between states. We suggest contacting a local plumbing specialist to discuss whether your bath requires and overflow.
At Seima we offer baths across three overflow categories; Integrated, Optional and Smartfill®.
Integrated Overflow
Baths with an integrated overflow, simply have a sleek slot. This modern design seamlessly integrates the overflow into the bath’s rim to create a minimalist aesthetic. The slot is barely noticeable, enhancing the overall look of your bathroom.
Our new Cleo 115 back to wall bath features an integrated overflow. Its fully fluted exterior provides visual and tactile delight, while its smooth interior is complete with a minimal overflow slot.
Integrated slot overflows are available across Syros, Arko, Plati and Cleo baths.
Optional Overflow
Baths with an optional overflow present a more traditional solution. They feature an overflow hole fitted with a visible metal dome. The overflow dome is available in our range of signature finishes to complement your bathroom’s surrounding fixtures and fittings.
The pictured Arko 120 freestanding bath was installed with an optional overflow and on trend Back Matte dome. Arko 120 is available in both White Gloss and White Matte finishes in 1500mm or 1700mm long.

Locally designed and manufactured, Smartfill allows freestanding baths to be positioned freely, without the traditional constraints of a floor or wall spout. Smartfill has a smooth low-profile design, that is safe and comfortable for all users. Made from premium stainless steel its bezel is available in; Brushed Nickel, Gunmetal, Brushed Gold, Black Matte and White Matte, to complement the aesthetics of any bathroom.
